"Democracy is a form of government in which the supreme power is held completely by the people under a free electoral system. It is derived from the Greek δημοκρατία ([dimokratia](help·info)), "popular government"[1] which was coined from δήμος (dēmos), "people" and κράτος (kratos), "rule, strength" in the middle of the 5th-4th century BC to denote the political systems then existing in some Greek city-states, notably Athens following a popular uprising in 508 BC.[2] In this form, there were no defined human rights or legal restraints upon the actions of assembly, making it the first instance of "illiberal democracy."[3] " - Wikipedia
| THE FATAL FLAWS OF DEMOCRACY Democracy seems to be the most ideal form of socio-political structure because everybody has the right to choose who will be its leader. But the problem lies in the fact that not everyone is capable of choosing the right leader. Most of the time, the intelligent vote is drowned out by the mediocre but more popular vote. It would have been better if only we could consider that each vote is of equal value and weight, that is - each vote is an intelligent vote coming from an intelligent voter, and therefore would result to an intelligent choice of good public servants, which would result to a higher quality of public service including free quality education that would result to further increases on the level of intelligence of the voter, that could hopefully bring about even more qualified leaders later on. Are 18-year Olds Wiser? Of course, there are other qualities that one must find in a candidate, but will he be able to discern if, irrespective of the capacity to digest relevant issues, anybody who has reached the legal age of 18 years can vote and run for public office? Not only does age has nothing to do with political maturity, nor everyone has the capacity to acquire knowledge either. One may be 50 years old and not understand what a councilman tasks are, or a 10 year old may be able to decipher who should be responsible why his schoolroom is flooded every time a rainshower comes. In this case, the 10 year old kid should have been allowed to vote instead of the 50 year old *******. But that is not what the law says. The present system gives more importance to age rather than the capacity to think. There's Wisdom in a Crowd What if they are all Idiots? Worse, idiocy is not an exclusive faculty of the uneducated. There are those who are so comfortable with their class rings that nothing and nobody could ever change the views they hold so dearly. So arrogant, they even consider their acquired knowledge as absolute and supreme. True Democracy is not the simplistic rule of the Majority, but making sure everyone in that majority is indeed capable of rendering critical decisions in matters of great concern and in wisely choosing its leaders. This could only be possible if each of them is molded to be so, right from the day they were born, and until the day they reach the voting age. But since this is not the case today, a system of voter's pre-qualification should be instituted. Voter's pre-qualification should show us how politically literate one is, i.e he must know pretty well the relevant issues of the day. And this could only be determine by subjecting the individual to a battery of tests, written or otherwise. Allowing these idiots to vote could only benefit the candidate who has the capacity to buy and manipulate them, because these idiots are more than willing to sell their right to vote as they don't have the slightest idea what it means really to have that power to elect a good leader. They are not capable of foresight and logic. Most of them only care what's good for them in the short term, like the political appointment they'll get, or worse, the possibility of the next meal. And that is not their fault, but our collective crime. Ironically, the same candidate would even go to great lengths to "fight for their right" to vote by employing the biblical phrase - "Men are created equal", so they must be allowed to vote, not because the candidate really wanted to uphold that same right, but just so he could use them, again and again, to advance his own vested interests. Suffrage as being defined today is only conducted to create that virtual atmosphere of democracy when in essence, there is none. It is exercised only to periodically pacify any legitimate dissent. How many times have we been told to wait for the next elections so we could get back at them who faulted in their promises, only to be dished out with a choice between the Evil and the Stupid? This "chicken and egg" situation of the need to have an educated electorate first in order that an educated vote could be rendered, and the need to have good leaders first to provide the same electorate the right orientation so that they could accomplish the same, must be dealt with accordingly. How? Terminate the services of the current leaders for at least two reasons: they have been abusive or remiss in their duties to serve the public to the best of their abilities; no matter how long we must wait, they will never do these things otherwise. Never forget that a Constitution is a written contract between public servants and the people they are sworn to serve, and that we have all the right all the time to terminate their employ when we deem it necessary. The Enlightened Minority must then institute reforms that will simultaneously promote the reorientation of the psyche, and the economic upliftment of the Unthinking Majority. Easier said than done? Not really, when you have the moral ascendancy and intellectual capacity, you can move everyone to volunteer their talents and resources to this noble cause. Our inaction in this regard now would definitely result to our own downfall later. Having said all of the above with the assumption that such system we are in is the natural course of our evolution, but really, such is not the case, as this system have been designed from the ground and up solely to control us with the classic method of "divide and conquer", and therefore, there's a grave need to rectify this age old manipulation by counter-brainwashing the Unthinking Majority using available multimedia. Our failure to do this will nullify all our efforts, now and in the future, in reforming the physical structure of our society because, above all, it is the mindset of the people that must be reformed. As some of you may not have realize yet, the tools that are in use today to facilitate division among men are the following:
Ignoring all that have been considered above will not only give us perpetual frustrations, but total extinction. | SOCIALISM * THE INTERMEDIATE CONSEQUENCE OF AN ENLIGHTENED & TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED SOCIETY *In this discussion, we are using this term not as defined by the Jesuit-trained Thomas More, but in the context of the lifelong works of Jacque Fresco of the Venus Project. If all technologies, and scientific discoveries over the past 100 years are made available today, or are not persistently suppressed, we won't have to pay for the following: FOOD Continuing on our Ant analogy, isn't it possible that their system of government is Socialism? Aside from building their house together, they also are gathering and storing their food where everyone should have free access to it. And what happens when a giant invader intrudes into their colony? They will right away launch a highly coordinated attack that's not easy to forget. This basic character of cooperation for mutual satisfaction and survival possessed by even the most lowly lifeforms taunts us who profess to be the highest thinking and most advanced of all that ever populated this planet. And yet, we can't seem to fully appreciate the existence of the other except at the level of exploitation and utility. We have used that gift of free will to conquer the will of others just to prove a point - that we are smarter than them. Yet no matter how many slaves we owned, fulfillment comes not. SO HOW DO WE CHOSE OUR LEADERS IN THE FUTURE? With reference to the four basic needs stipulated above, we will chose who's the best in the field, and only the best. We don't need to have a president to led, guide, or control us. Even the current Constitution prohibits this by starting with the phrase "We, the Sovereign Filipino people..." and not "I, the Most Powerful...". It's pathetic that the succeeding articles and sections effectively defeated this seemingly perfect Preamble. We shall not elect one person to appoint who will chair what department. We shall do the choosing ourselves! And we shall do it in the following manner:
The logic really is to choose directly those who are the best in their field by looking at what they have already done, and not based on some hollow promises. To start the process, we can do the selection through a nationwide contest, the winner of whom shall hold the relevant office and perform the appropriate function to the best of his abilities. The tenure of the first appointee will only last until a new concept is introduced challenging the current methodology. In this way, human advancement is thereby assured of perpetuity, and possible regression is arrested. Society's preoccupation will then shift from knowledge stagnation to that of innovation and other yet undefined progressive modalities. ...AND HOW DO WE DISTRIBUTE RESOURCES? When food and other basic needs are in abundance, selling is anathema. No more commercial activity will ever happen and patronized. All we will be doing in the future is to satisfy that which we really want to do today but can't find the time and resource. This will be the beginning when our time of physical existence here on Earth is considerably lengthened and the next generations would probably reach 1000 years or more, as we will finally conquer labor and consider the same as non-essential part of the reality of living, and be free from the stresses associated with it. This is not some fantastic idea that could happen only in Dreamland in some distant future, but is the natural course of our evolution if we do things right. In fact it is long overdue, as all technologies that could make them possible are already here today. Ironically, these technologies are much easier and cheaper to implement than its current mediocre counterpart so that, once made known, no one will have exclusivity to and therefore will not profit from it. This is the reason why it must be suppressed at all cost, even to the point of killing anybody who would dare implement it. Finally, any keen observer would noticed Nature's characteristic Duality, eg. night and day, male and female, positive and negative, creation and decreation. But it is creation that is predominant than decreation; progression over regression, otherwise, Nature and us would have not existed in the first place. Therefore, if we have to survive, we must follow Nature's way of doing things. We must fully understand the processes of how, even with its sheer size, she was able to organize and manage everything in perfect harmony. We must work for the advantage of the other, and not against each other. Eventually, as we continue to progress, we will come to realize that we no longer need governance for we will then be capable of conducting our daily affairs and social intercourse in a highly civilized manner. This is the natural consequence of a highly evolved society. It is, by all definitions, a heaven made possible here on Earth. And that will not come about without you and I making the right first step today. |
